Sigh, the wait for All of us Are Dead has been painful. We were left with Cheong-san’s apparent death at the end of Season 1, just after he had finally learnt that his childhood crush loves him back too…er, even in the middle of a zombie smackdown.

And then after that, silence.

But it doesn’t seem that way, hope is rearing its tired and wearied head and after three years of tantalising details, about its eventual release. There's buzz again.

In a previous interview with The Korea Herald, director Lee Jae-kyoo revealed he intentionallyi left the door wide open for a follow-up. “Many directions, settings and scenes were intentionally produced to expand the story into an additional season,” he said, teasing the game-changing introduction of hybrid zombies in the latter half of season one.

“If the first season explored humanity’s survival, the next season can talk about the survival of zombies,” he added. (We’re not sure whether to be terrified or thrilled.)

So, when is All of Us Are Dead season 2 coming out?

Netflix Korea had confirmed season two with a cryptic poster and teaser video that read: “Can we survive again? The second story of Hyosan High School friends' fierce zombie survival period begins.”

Fans were hopeful when BH Entertainment, the agency representing Park Ji-hu (aka On-jo), included the show in its 2024 lineup. But then, the update we dreaded: South Korean media outlet Star News reported production had been postponed and filming likely wouldn’t start until 2025.

As of now, Netflix hasn’t officially confirmed the delay, or a new release date.

So, what does this mean?

If filming kicks off in early 2025 as rumoured, and considering the months-long shoot and post-production needed for all the gnarly zombie effects, we might not see season two until early 2026 at the earliest. A long wait, yes. But with a promise of hybrid zombies and a fresh survival arc, it may just be worth the bloodbath.

The cast took a hit, but many familiar faces will return.

Returning cast members likely include:

  • On-jo (Park Ji-hu)

  • Su-hyeok (Park Solomon)

  • Dae-su (Im Jae-hyuk)

  • Ha-ri (Ha Seung-ri)

  • Mi-jin (Lee Eun-saem)

  • Hyo-ryung (Kim Bo-yoon)

Now here’s the twist: Cheong-san (Yoon Chan-young), who broke hearts with his apparent death in episode 11, might not be so gone after all. He appeared in the official season two announcement video, which has sent the fandom into overdrive.

When asked about his fate, Yoon Chan-young told Soompi:

“I was actually asked about whether Cheong-san died or not in another interview recently. To be honest, I don't know. I haven't heard about what happens next, and nothing has been decided yet. Personally, I'd like to live. I'd like to be able to say things that I didn't get to say.”

Whether he’s back as a hybrid zombie, a flashback memory, or (plot twist!) fully alive—we’ll have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, Choi Nam-ra (Cho Yi-hyun), our fan-favourite hybrid, is all but confirmed to return—because what’s season two without her brooding charm and moral ambiguity?

So yes, expect old faces, new characters, and lots of undead chaos in All of Us Are Dead season 2. And maybe, just maybe, a Cheong-san redemption arc.
