Bollywood superstar unpacks his luxe travel rituals and why he needs multiple suitcases
Dubai: Ranveer Singh’s first look in Dhurandhar didn’t just drop — it detonated.
Clad in a black shirt unbuttoned to the navel, a cigarette dangling from his lips, and that unmistakable “don’t-mess-with-me” glare, Singh is serving villainous 70s swagger on a silver platter. It’s wild, it’s wicked, and it’s oh-so-Ranveer. Social media has crowned him the moment — and honestly, he’s earned it.
And here’s the kicker — Bollywood’s ultimate showman turned 40 yesterday, but judging by that first look, he’s only just getting started. The man is ageing pretty well.
But behind all that smoky chaos is a man who travels with as much flair as he acts. In an earlier Gulf News interview — when he was officially announced as the Abu Dhabi Tourism Ambassador for India in 2023 — Singh gave us a front-row seat to his vacation rituals, fashion fixations, and deep affection for the UAE capital.
“I’m definitely not a light traveller. My luggage looks like it belongs to a family of four — and that’s just for a weekend trip,” said Singh with a laugh.
And when we say he travels in style, we mean top-to-toe-matching, fedora-and-pocket-square kind of style. The Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani star doesn’t just pack clothes — he packs a fashion moment.
“Everything has to be matching — outfits, shoes, brogues, pocket squares, fedoras. I like to be fully styled from top to toe. So, all that adds up,” he added.
His go-to destination? Abu Dhabi, naturally. A city that, according to him, hits the perfect balance of culture, luxury, and unforgettable experiences.
“The idea of a perfect holiday for me is getting the best place to relax, with a touch of vibrant culture,” said Singh. “Abu Dhabi is at the top of my list. Every time I visit, I discover something new — it’s close to my heart.”
Singh isn’t just a pretty face in campaign posters — he’s lived the Abu Dhabi experience from the beach to the Louvre to Ferrari World. And yes, he recommends it all.
“Abu Dhabi’s breezy beaches are hidden gems. And Qasr Al Hosn and Qasr Al Watan? Absolutely stunning. The Louvre Abu Dhabi is also one of my favourites — so visually rich and culturally deep.”
And thrill-seekers, take note: Singh is a certified adrenaline junkie.
“Ferrari World is a must-visit. Riding the world’s fastest rollercoaster there was unforgettable — it shoots from 0 to 240km/h in just 4.9 seconds!”
The cherry on top? Living out his Formula 1 dreams.
“Fulfilling a long-standing wish, being part of the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit was an incredible experience,” said Singh, who brought his father along for the ride.
So whether he’s lighting up the screen as a dangerous anti-hero or strutting through Saadiyat Island in coordinated couture, Ranveer Singh is always in main character mode — and clearly, life at 40 looks fabulous on him.
