Taimoor sparked controversy by stating that men are permitted to marry four times

Dubai: Pakistani actor Danish Taimoor has addressed the controversy surrounding his remarks on polygamy, which sparked backlash during a Ramadan TV transmission.
During the show, Taimoor stated that men are permitted to marry four times, adding, “I have the right to do so, but I’m not doing it yet—that’s a different story.” With his wife, Ayeza Khan, present, he emphasized that out of love and respect for her, he chooses to stay with her.
However, his use of the word “filhal” (for now) triggered outrage, leading to criticism from viewers.
In response, Taimoor took to Instagram to apologise, clarifying that he never intended to offend anyone or disrespect his wife.
“I know some people were upset and felt I disrespected Ayeza, but that was never my intention. I love her deeply,” he explained. He acknowledged that his choice of words may have been inappropriate, attributing it to habit:
“I often say ‘filhal’ in daily conversations because I believe nothing in this world is permanent. Maybe I shouldn’t have used that word, but it was never meant to imply anything negative.”
Taimoor emphasised his 18-year controversy-free career and stated he wishes to keep it that way.
“If my words hurt anyone, I sincerely apologize. My goal has always been to entertain and spread happiness. Ayeza and I are happy together, and I want my fans to stay happy too. Please remember us in your prayers.”
