The wait is nearly over for eager Outlander fans.

Starz announced on Thursday that its hit original series overseen by Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica) and adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s best-selling series of novels will debut its second season on Saturday, April 9.

When fans last saw Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) they were fleeing Scotland for France, intent on infiltrating the Jacobite rebellion and changing the course of history in an attempt to prevent the impending devastation of Highland culture.

The second season, adapted from the second book of the Outlander series, Dragonfly in Amber, looks to depend more on political conflict than physical conflict, though the toll it takes on the Frasers’ relationship is equally trying. It’s also safe to assume that the fact that Claire is still a time-traveller with a husband in a different time and place also continues to weigh heavily on the pair.

What is clear regarding the second season of Outlander is that its stunning visuals will remain, even with a change in venue. Though they may lose the Scottish Highlands, they gain palatial French locales. And while kilts may be in short supply for some of the season, the Parisian high fashion that replaces them provide more than enough eye candy for audiences.
