A couple of weeks ago, videos of BTS’s V trying to make his way into the airport while paparazzi and fans clamoured around him, went viral. This isn’t a novelty: The members face this often and have spoken about it in different ways.

V, who rarely holds back from expressing his views on the subject, addressed the subject during a Weverse Livestream. “Without singling anyone out, he voiced concern over the lack of order and the risks it poses. “The airport doesn't belong to us,” he said plainly, reminding fans that safety should come before selfies. Explaining why he’s avoided posing for photos at the airport lately, V pointed to safety concerns for himself and others. The issue isn’t new—airports have long been tense zones for high-profile K-pop idols, where excitement sometimes teeters into disorder.

V also expressed his support for reviving the ‘Purple Line,’ a grassroots fan initiative launched back in 2018. The campaign had fans standing quietly in organized lines holding purple ribbons, a symbolic gesture for BTS, ensuring safer transit for the members. “If fans could bring back the Purple Line and keep things safe and orderly, that would be great,” V said. “Then I could put more thought into what to wear to the airport, maybe even a suit.”

V returned from his military service last month. He greeted the press on June 10 with a warm message for fans. “During my time in the military, I was able to rebuild both my body and mind. I sincerely thank ARMY for waiting for me. I want to return to you all as soon as possible and give you an amazing performance,” he said.

He added, “There are still many officers and soldiers who looked out for me. I hope they stay safe and complete their service without injury. I truly appreciate the support, and I will work hard to become a better person in society. Salute.”

When asked what he was most eager to do post-discharge, V didn’t miss a beat: “Perform on stage.”

With BTS's full-group comeback scheduled for spring next year, anticipation is already high. V, who had been working on new music in the U.S., made a quick stop in Korea to attend a fellow soldier’s discharge ceremony on July 28—instantly drawing fan buzz both online and off.
