Suspect in killing of Charice's father surrenders

Manila: Philippine police say the suspect in the stabbing death of the estranged father of singer Charice Pempengco of the TV hit Glee has surrendered.

Laguna province police chief Gilbert Cruz says Angel Capili Jr. turned himself in to the chief of his home village Thursday.

Police say construction worker Ricky Pempengco was stabbed with an ice pick by a drunken man Monday after buying cigarettes at a store in a Laguna township near Manila. Cruz said Capili is also a construction worker but did not know Pempengco.

The police chief said Capili was apologetic and ready to face the consequences.

Teen songstress Charice canceled upcoming concerts and called for justice for her estranged father Wednesday. She plays an exchange student on Glee.
