Steven Spielberg returns to Universal Pictures

In true Hollywood fashion, the legendary filmmaker behind movie classics such as Jaws and ET is returning to his long-time production home at Universal Pictures.

Universal Pictures on Wednesday announced a multiyear deal with Spielberg’s Amblin Partners, a new consortium of companies that includes DreamWorks Studios, Participant Media, Reliance Entertainment and Entertainment One.

Universal will market and distribute films produced by Amblin Partners domestically and in select international markets.

Wednesday’s announcement was made by Donna Langley, chairman of Universal Pictures; Jeff Shell, chairman of the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group; Spielberg, founder of Amblin Partners; and Jeff Skoll, chairman of Participant Media.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to be back in business with Steven,” Shell and Langley said in a statement. “His iconic films have stood the test of time and are embraced by audiences around the world.”
