Popular television director Sudheesh Shankar opens his innings in Malayalam cinema with Villali Veeran.

Featuring Dileep and Namitha Pramod, this is a comedy, said Shankar, who is remembered for his serials such as Ente Manasa Puthri, Kanakkinavu, Omanathinkal and Parasparam.

“Dileep plays Siddharth, a young man running a vegetable store,” said Shankar, who has also worked in Doordarshan (Indian public service broadcaster). “Siddharth is a responsible man, who supports his large family in the absence of his father, and that includes his three widowed sisters,” he added.

Siddique plays Dileep’s onscreen father. Pramod is an ad filmmaker in this story. Other members of the cast include Nedumudi Venu, Seetha, Mythili, Kalabhavan Shajon and Lalu Alex.

Shot in Kochi, Thodupuzha and Pondicherry, Villali Veeran is produced by R.B. Choudhury. Dinesh Pallath has written the script. Anil Nair is the cinematographer. S.A. Rajkumar has composed music.

“This is a complete humour-driven script. Viewers can look forward to a complete entertainer,” assured Shankar, whose television serial Ardha Chandrande Rathri won the Kerala state award for Sri Lakshmi in the Best Actress category.
