PM Narendra Modi congratulates Rajinikanth on 50 years in Cinema

The prime minister hails his journey as ‘iconic’ and impactful across generations

India’s  Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated superstar Rajinikanth on completing 50 years in the film industry, hailing his journey as ‘iconic’ and impactful across generations.

“Congratulations to Thiru Rajinikanth Ji on completing 50 glorious years in the world of cinema. His journey has been iconic, with his diverse roles leaving a lasting impact on the minds of people across generations. Wishing him continued success and good health in the times to come,” the Prime Minister wrote on X.

Responding to the message, the veteran actor expressed his gratitude. “Respected @narendramodi ji, I am deeply grateful for your warm wishes. It is truly an honour to receive them from a leader I have long held in the highest regard. Thank you for your kind words. Jai Hind,” Rajinikanth said in his post.

The actor, who has been an enduring presence in Indian cinema since the mid-1970s, has received a flood of congratulatory messages from colleagues and contemporaries, including Kamal Haasan, Mammootty, and Mohanlal. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and other state leaders also extended their wishes.

Amid the golden jubilee celebrations, Rajinikanth marked a grand return to the silver screen with his latest release, Coolie, which opened on 14 August. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film stars Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan, with Bollywood actor Aamir Khan making a special appearance as ‘Dahaa’.
