Dubai is in full-blown Coolie mode. Rajinikanth’s latest blockbuster has sent fans into a frenzy, with VOX Cinemas across the city witnessing packed houses and electric crowds. From early morning shows to late-night screenings, every showtime is turning into a mini-celebration, fans waving banners, and dancing in the lobbies, especially at VOX Cinemas.

Fans shared their ticket timings, which proves it is as early as 2:15 am. In fact, one tweet declared that their office had 'closed' currently for the release of the Rajinikanth film.

One fan wrote, "Thalaivar swag never changes 50 years ruling box office in style!"

Meanwhile, Coolie has already broken records in its pre-sales itself. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, stars Rajinikanth as Devaraj “Deva,” a former coolie turned fierce protector of his community. When a gold-smuggling syndicate led by Simon Xavier (Nagarjuna) exploits harbour workers, Deva steps in. Things spiral as an undercover officer is killed, and Deva finds himself targeted by corrupt forces. The film features a powerful ensemble—Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, and Aamir Khan in a quirky cameo role as gangster Dahaa

Record-breaking advance sales

Ahead of its August 14, 2025 release (coinciding with Independence Day), Coolie shattered pre-booking records:

  • Achieved Rs 100 crore in global advance sales

  • Smashing Tamil cinema records, it sold over ₹37 crore worth of tickets in India alone and 1.73 million tickets for opening-day shows

  • In North America, it became the first Tamil film to surpass US $2 million in premiere-ticket presales
