Known for her Malayalam films, she’s stirring up horror with this weekend’s Indian release
Nikki Galrani talks nineteen to the dozen.
When tabloid! caught up with the actress on the eve of the Asianet awards ceremony held last week, Galrani was looking forward to receiving her first Asianet award for Best New Face and performing with her sister, Sanjana, an actress in the Telugu industry.
She owes it to her first Malayalam film 1983 that brought in more offers, including the much appreciated Biju Menon movie Vellimoonga.
Darling is her Tamil debut film, in which Galrani plays a ghost.
“I am a peace-loving person and generally quiet, but for this role I had to scream,” said Galrani, who holds a degree in fashion design.
She watched a couple of horror films and Googled videos on paranormal activities to prepare for her role.
“All that did freak me out, though.”
She promised that although Darling is a horror film, the audience will “find the situations funny and have an enjoyable experience.”
Galrani has her hands full with several films lined up.
In Tamil there is Yagavarayinum Naa Kakka opposite Aadhi, while she recently signed an untitled film to be produced by R.S. Infotainment. In Malayalam she is paired opposite Dileep in Ivan Maryadharaman and Oru Second Class Yathra, opposite Vineeth Sreenivasan.
