Shanavas, the noted actor and son of evergreen Malayalam superstar Prem Nazir, died at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram late Monday night, Manorama News reported. He was 71.
Throughout his career, Shanavas acted in over 50 films, becoming a well-known figure in Malayalam cinema. He made his debut in 1981 with the romantic drama Prema Geethangal, directed by Balachandra Menon, marking the start of his cinematic journey.
After a long break from acting, Shanavas made a comeback in 2011 with China Town, reconnecting with modern audiences. He continued to demonstrate his passion for the craft until his final role in the acclaimed film Jana Gana Mana, starring Prithviraj, highlighting his lasting talent.
Shanavas is fondly remembered for his contribution to Malayalam cinema, honouring his father’s legacy while making his own unique place in the industry.
