Reports suggest he likely died of a heart attack
Dubai: Malayalam actor and mimicry artist Kalabhavan Navas found dead at a hotel in Chottanikkara on Friday. He was 51.
Reports say he was foundin his hotel room Friday evening, with a suspected heart attack as the cause of death.
According to Manorama News, Navas was shooting for the upcoming movie Prakambanam and had planned to check out of the hotel after completing his shoot. A hotel staff member discovered him unresponsive while confirming his checkout. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, doctors declared him dead.
Police informed the media that no suspicious circumstances were found surrounding his death. His body is at a private hospital in Chottanikkara and will be handed over to his family after an autopsy scheduled for Saturday. Authorities have initiated inquest proceedings to determine the exact cause of death.
A well-known figure in Kerala’s entertainment scene, Navas rose to fame with the iconic Kalabhavan troupe. He was also known for frequent stage appearances alongside his brother and fellow performer, Niaz Bakkar.
He acted in films like Mattupetti Machan, Junior Mandrake, and Amma Ammayi Amma, debuting in 1995’s Chaithanyam.
He is survived by his wife Rehana and his brother.
