‘Ira’, a romantic Malayalam thriller

Malayalam director Vysakh and script writer Udayakrishna of Pulimurugan fame are ready with their first film Ira under their new company-Vysakh-Udayakrishna Productions.

Touted as a romantic thriller with Unni Mukundan and Gokul Suresh (Suresh Gopi’s son) in the lead, Ira (The Prey) is directed by Saiju SS.

Saiju, a dubbing artist and former television anchor, assisted Vysakh for some years before going solo. Newcomer Naveen John has written the story.

Unni Mukundan plays an investigating officer and Gokul Suresh is a junior doctor. Niranjana Anoop is paired opposite Suresh Junior. She plays Jennifer, a college student and is the daughter of a Minister. Mia George plays a tribal woman, and is the love interest of Unni Mukundan.

Ira was shot in Kollam and Pooyamkutty (in Kothamangalam) where Pulimurugan was filmed. Sudheer Srinivasan is the DOP.

“We chose locations that were not explored during the making of Pulimurugan,” said Saiju.

Ira releases in India on March 16.
