Last week’s earthquake in Manipur has brought music director Ghibran’s road-trip music launch to a halt.

Ghibran broke with tradition when he decided to launch the music of his upcoming film Chennai 2 Singapore on a road trip.

He planned on releasing six songs from the album in six countries, enroute to Singapore.

Ghibran and team left Chennai on August 12 in their black Ford after releasing the first song, ‘Vaadi Vaadi,’ in the presence of actor Surya. The remaining five songs would be released in five more countries — Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.

Now stranded in Imphal, the capital city of Manipur, Ghibran appeal for help in a Facebook video on August 25.

“We have the Myanmar visa but the permit to take our car there has been cancelled due to the earthquake,” said Ghibran.

Despite being asked by friends and family to return to Chennai, the music director said that he is to eager to go ahead with the audio drive as planned.

“We need support and if anyone has contacts at the Indian embassy or Myanmar embassy to ease things up, we would appreciate the help,” he added.

tabloid! got in touch with director Abbas Akbar, who is accompanying Ghibran. Akbar said that in view of a subsequent tremor in Thailand, the team is contemplating “calling it off.”

Earlier, Ghibran released the second song, ‘Poda’ on entering Bhutan but this was not free from glitches. The border security officials stopped them for not having a key document. Once the officials learnt that they were dealing with a celebrity musician who has worked with Kamal Haasan, things eased up. Chatting over a cup of tea, the officers were curious to know about Rajnikanth’s performance in his recent film, ‘Kabali.’

‘Chennai 2 Singapore’ is a Tamil romantic comedy directed by newcomer Abbas Akbar.
