Jeethu Joseph revealed details regarding the finale of the thriller film series
Dubai: The long-awaited finale to the thriller film series, Drishyam, is set to return soon!
The announcement was made by Aashirvad cinemas recently on Instagram. The video showed the director Jeethu Joseph, producer Antony Perumbavoor and lead actor Mohanlal in an emotional reunion.
The video begins with a clip oh Mohanlal as Georgekutty, cutting to the title Drishyam 3, followed by the video of the actor, director and producer. Captioned, “October 2025 – the camera turns back to Georgekutty. The past never stays silent.”
The final film will go into production in October 2025.
The first film in the hit film series was released in 2013. The film went on to become a big hit and lead to the remake in Hindi and Telugu. The film follows Mohanlal’s Georgekutty, an ordinary man who would do anything to protect his family. The film was followed by the sequel, Drishyam 2, which was released during the pandemic in 2021, on OTT platforms.
The film was remade in Hindi and Telugu languages and starred Ajay Devgn and Daggubati Venkatesh as lead actors respectively.
In a recent interview with Malayalam language news organisation, Manorama, director Jeethu Joseph revealed that a common release date for all versions of the film is in the talks, however, they will not be shot at the same time – as some rumours suggested.
“They are waiting for the script to be finished. Once it (the script) is complete, I’ll hand it over so each team can tweak it to better suit their respective audiences – just like we did with the first two films. But the main storyline will still be mine,” he said.
