South Korean actress Song Hye-kyo's psychological thriller Dark Nuns is off to a stellar start. The film only captivated audiences in South Korea, but has also done well in Indonesia.

Dark Nuns opened to an extraordinary reception, earned approximately $3.9 million (KRW 5.71 billion) at the Korean box office during its opening weekend. The movie attracted 160,000 viewers on its opening day and has maintained the top spot at the Korean box office for three consecutive days since its release.  In Indonesia, Dark Nuns achieved an equally remarkable feat, attracting approximately 310,000 viewers within its first week, marking the best opening for any Korean film in the country, according to AllKPop. It also held the number one position at the Indonesian box office for three consecutive days.

In the film, Song Hye-kyo takes on a challenging role as Sister Eun-chae, a nun caught in a mystery that explores themes of faith, betrayal, and redemption. The film's storytelling and Hye-kyo's haunting portrayal of her character have been praised by fans and critics alike. Fans have flooded social media with praise and have dubbed her the 'queen of thrillers', while appreciating her 'captivating' performance. "Her calm, yet sorrowful voice was so good," writes a fan.

The film also stars Jeon Yeon-been and Lee Jin-wook.

Recently, during a photocall of the film, Hye-kyo revealed her desire for a romantic comedy, which was a pleasant throwback to the beginning of her career. "I really want to try a comedy. If I do, It has been so long since Full House. If there's a good project, I really want to try it."
