Stars from the Indian entertainment world are ready to descend upon the Sharjah International Cricket Stadium this Friday for the annual Asia Vision Movie Awards.

Actors including Malayalam actress Manju Warrier and Nivin Pauly will join Bollywood stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte at the awards presentation ceremony which sees a crowd of over 30,000 fans.

Kapoor will collect the Best Actress Award for the Hindi hijack drama Neerja, while Apte, who played a rural woman in Parched, will take home the Outstanding Performer Award.

“The winners were chosen through a public voting system. This is our 11th edition of the awards in Sharjah and we are hoping to expand it to Bengali and Assamese films next year. So far, we celebrate actors and films from Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi industries,” said Nissar Syed, the Managing Director of South Asian Movie Awards, to Gulf News tabloid!.

Pauly, who acted in the UAE-set blockbuster Jacobinte Swargarajyam, has won the Best Actor Award for his role of a young man grappling with financial losses. Warrier won for her role as a sports coach in Karinkunnam 6’s, and for the thriller Vetta.

Telugu actor Ram Charan will go home with the Youth Icon trophy. Like all award ceremonies in India, there will be song and dance performances from leading stars.
