Prabhas' gritty action film Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire stormed back into theatres on March 21, 2025, and despite skipping a release in North India, the re-release still managed a strong showing.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film collected approximately Rs30.8 million (around Dh1.4 million) on its opening day—making it the biggest Day 1 haul for any Prabhas re-release.

The film outperformed the re-release of cult favourite Tumbbad, which had opened to Rs10.6 million (around Dh704,000) on its first day.

Directed by Prashanth Neel and originally released in December 2023, Salaar was brought back by Hombale Films reportedly due to a dry spell in Telugu film releases that weekend. While it didn’t release in Northern India—limiting its full earning potential—its strong South Indian reception and fan-driven theatre celebrations helped drive momentum.

Still, Salaar’s re-release debut trailed behind some other notable re-release openers. Romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam, which returned to theatres in February 2025 during Valentine’s Week, brought in Rs50 million (approx. Dh 2.35 million) on Day 1. Similarly, Pawan Kalyan’s Gabbar Singh pulled in Rs6 crore (Dh 2.64 million) and Vijay’s Ghilli made Rs50 million (AED 2.2 million) on their respective first days back in cinemas.

Interestingly, Salaar had a quiet re-release in October 2024 that failed to attract much attention. This time, however, the film seems to have aged well—largely due to its success on OTT platforms, where its repeat value has grown significantly.

The buzz was evident on social media, where both Salaar and Prabhas were trending. Cinema halls witnessed packed shows, cheering fans, and celebratory scenes, especially in South Indian markets.

Featuring Prabhas, Shruti Haasan, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film originally grossed a massive Rs6 billlion globally (approx. Dh272 million). It remains one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2023.
