Dubai: Qarz-e-Jaan is the drama dominating Pakistani TV right now — and while Yumna Zaidi and Usama Khan lead the charge, it’s Deepak Perwani’s powerful turn as Bakhtiar that has everyone talking.

Best known as a trailblazing fashion designer, Perwani is now stealing the spotlight on screen with a role that’s as stylish and layered as his couture.

Perwani’s portrayal of the brooding and enigmatic Bakhtiar has struck a chord with viewers, thanks to his commanding screen presence and nuanced performance. Social media is abuzz with love for the fashion designer-turned-actor, who brings an undeniable gravitas to the series.

But Deepak Perwani’s star power doesn’t end on screen.

He has long been a king of re-invention. Born in 1974 into a Sindhi Hindu family, he entered the fashion world at just 20 and never looked back. He launched his menswear label in 1994, followed by the couture brand Deepak Perwani (DP) in 1996, specialising in bridal and formal wear.

Over the years, he has collaborated with global giants such as Hugo Boss, Benson & Hedges, and Mercedes-Benz.

Perwani even holds a Guinness World Record for designing the world’s largest kurta — a towering garment that stood at 101 feet and weighed 800 kg, made by 50 tailors over 30 days.

While fashion remains his first love, he has made a seamless transition into acting. His past acting credits include Mere Paas Paas (Hum TV), Very Filmy, and Kadoorat (2013), but it’s Qarz-e-Jaan that’s put him squarely in the spotlight.

As Qarz-e-Jaan continues to dominate ratings, fans can’t get enough of Bakhtiar — and by extension, Deepak. He’s not just a supporting character anymore; he’s a scene-stealer.
