Bollywood actress bags first National Film Award with role in Fashion

New Delhi: Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra expressed her excitement on Saturday after she won the National Film Award best actress trophy for her performance in Fashion.
"Won the National Award for fashion! Aaaaaaaahhhh! Too excited!! God is kind and so are all of u!" Priyanka posted on Twitter as soon as her victory was announced.
It is her first National Award.
Chopra thanked Fashion movie director Madhur Bhandarkar, producer Ronnie Screwvala, co-stars Kangana Ranaut, Mugdha Godse, Arjan Bajwa, Arbaaz Khan and the cast and crew of the film.
Priyanka has also congratulated her co-star Kangana, who won the best supporting actress award.
Fashion is a film about a small town girl who dreams of making it in the fashion industry. In the film, Priyanka plays a struggling model named Meghna Mathur.
The winners of the 56th National Film Award for 2008 were announced in New Delhi on Saturday.
The award for the best popular film went to Dibakar Banerjee's Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, a satire on people's obsession with wealth.
The Rahul Bose-starrer Bengali film Antaheen was named the best film.
