When it comes to poise and dignified responses, there’s no beating former Miss World and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra.

In Dubai on Tuesday to promote Asmi, a jewellery brand sold at the newly opened Gitanjali Jewels store in Meena Bazar, the statuesque beauty was in beauty pageant mode as she celebrated the achievements of modern women.

“When it comes to multi-tasking, it’s the one thing that we women are good at,” said Chopra. Dressed in a turquoise Gauri & Nainika cocktail dress and Yves Saint Laurent heels, the actress took the bite out of her remark with: “No offence to men, you guys are good at doing one thing at a time.”

Toeing the Asmi brand tagline, ‘For the woman of spirit’, closely, Chopra’s selling strategy took a feminist slant.

“All women, especially in our generation — be it in their role as a home-maker, engineer, actor or musician — we have an inherent strength,” said Chopra.

Describing herself as a “jewellery hoarder”, the Barfi star revealed that her life’s ambition was to become a decked-out bride.

“Since I was three years old, my ambition in life was to become a dulhan [bride]. I remember playing dress-up, wearing saris and being fascinated by the necklace that my mum kept with her,” said Chopra, who’s single and is discreet about her dating record.

The Barfi star may describe her personal style as ‘subtle’, but when it comes to weddings, she goes all out.

“If it’s a wedding that I am attending then I become a dukaan [a store]. Pile it all on, I say,” said Chopra, who counts the solitaire given to her by her parents when she was 17 as her most prized possession.

“It wasn’t a big solitaire. But not many can boast of owning a solitaire that young,” said Chopra.

Endorsing Asmi is not the only jewel in her crown. Her next film, Barfi, the trailer for which was released on Monday, is whipping up a frenzy.

In the film, Chopra plays an autistic character, Jhilmil, alongside heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor whose character Barfi is deaf and mute.

“The greatest part about Barfi is that it’s a very positive movie. When you have differently-abled people, you assume that their life is sad. But we show that they have a side of life that they enjoy. The plan of UTV [the production house] is to unravel my character bit by it,” said Chopra.

Following the event in Dubai, she flew to Spain to work on her upcoming music album, which she remains tight-lipped about. “I cannot reveal much but this music album is long overdue for India, for our community,” said Chopra.
