If director Nadeem Baig’s Jawani Phir Nahi Ani (2015) set some cool trends in wardrobe and styling — remember Sohai Abro’s sexy tops and the boys’ multi-coloured beach shirts and shorts? — its sequel is expected to take the glamour quotient a few notches higher. Team JPNA 2, which boasts an ensemble cast including actor-producer Humayun Saeed, Fahad Mustafa, Mawra Hocane, Kubra Khan, Uzma Khan, Sarwat Gilani, Vasay Chaudhry, Ahmad Ali Butt, and Sohail Ahmad, recently began filming in Istanbul, Turkey, for a month-long spell.

This is decidedly the longest that a Pakistani film crew has ever stayed on a foreign location. It’s also a large team, and comprises fashion journalist-turned-stylist Haiya Bokhari, who is supposed to have given a fresh look to the entire cast. Saeed’s jazzed-up appearance, in particular, is accredited to her. The unit people swear Saeed has never looked this good.

The makers — ARY’s Salman Iqbal and Jerjees Seja, fresh from the success of Punjab Nahin Jaungi — are seeing to it that quality is not compromised, even if it means going over-budget. They have hired the services of Line Production Turkey, a local production house that earlier facilitated the shoot of Shaan Shahid’s Zarrar and Atif Aslam’s video, Pehli Dafa, starring Ileana D’Cruz, among other projects.

JPNA 2 is slated for Eid Al Adha 2018 release. It will also feature Mehwish Hayat in a guest role. Hayat has been part of the makers’ previous two blockbusters, and is considered a lucky mascot for them.
