The change in the verdict date in the Babri Mosque case will not affect the release of Priyanka Chopra-starrer Anjaana Anjaani, the film’s distributor in the UAE confirmed on Thursday.

The film had been scheduled to release in India on September 24, clashing with the original verdict date in the case. At the request of the film’s stars Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor, the release was postponed by a week to avoid coming on the same day as the long-awaited verdict.

Mahi Golchin-Depala, Group Communications Director of Gulf Film, a major film distributor in the UAE, told Gulf News that the new release date of September 30 in the UAE and October 1 in India would remain the same and that the film would not be brought forward to its original date.

“That couldn’t be done because the prints are not yet in the country,” she said.

The film stars Chopra and Kapoor as a couple who fall in love after they meet while attempting suicide on New York’s Brooklyn Bridge.
