Actor Anil Kapoor says Nayak Returns will have a completely new story and it won’t be a sequel.
Nayak (2001) was a political action thriller starring Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee and Amrish Puri. The film was a remake of S Shankar’s successful Tamil film Mudhalvan.
Now Nayak Returns is rolling out, though Kapoor says it is not a sequel.
“I have just signed Nayak 2 and it is my responsibility to put the project together. It is not a sequel to Nayak. The film is completely a fresh subject but it is something similar. The character is same. We will try to do something special,” he said.
Kapoor will be next seen in Sharmaji Ka Atom Bomb, directed by Abhishek Sharma, of Tere Bin Laden fame. The comedy is to begin filming by the end of this year.
Kapoor said he was also looking forward to working with Rajkumar Santoshi for a film based on the Partition. They previously worked together on Pukar (2000) and Lajja (2001).)
“The film with Rajkumar Santoshi, it is very ambitious film and an excellent role, it is one of the best roles that I have come across,” said Kapoor.
