The eight-episode series ‘Sing It On’ will go behind the scenes to follow five collegiate a cappella teams

Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter John Legend is executive producing a documentary-style series on an a cappella competition series for cable network Pop.
Pop, the former TV Guide Network that has been renamed and marketed as a destination for pop culture enthusiasts, announced the series at its upfront announcement for the 2015-16 TV season.
Inspired by the hit movie Pitch Perfect, the series Sing It On will premiere in the US on May 13. The eight-episode series will go behind the scenes to follow five collegiate a cappella teams as they compete in the International Championship of Collegiate A Capella finals.
Legend performed in a collegiate a cappella group at the University of Pennsylvania.
The series is co-produced by Legend’s Get Lifted Film Company and Core Media Group, which makes American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance.
Pop, jointly owned by CBS Corp and Lionsgate, also announced that it has a development deal with Legend’s Get Lifted Film Company to “develop projects that fit within the mission statement of both entities.”
