Russian pianist Ekaterina Mechetina will perform in the UAE for the first time at a new classical music series called Dubai Allegro Moderato on October 24 at Madinat Jumeirah. The series will feature works by iconic Polish composer Frederic Chopin and renowned Russian composer Alexander Scriabin.
A graduate of the Moscow State Conservatory’s Central School for Music, Mechetina performed around the world with world-class orchestras in numerous famous venues including Berlin’s Schauspielhaus, the Gaveau in Paris, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Great Hall of the Milan Conservatory.
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Ekaterina to Dubai. A highly sought-after international artist who has performed at some of the world’s most feted venues, it is a real coup to have her perform here. A household name within the Russian cultural community, she is also hugely popular with international classical music aficionados, and we fully expect this to be a sell-out event,” said Vladimir Burdun, CEO of Art Media, the organiser.
Russian ballet dancer and choreographer Vladimir Vasiliev, who is flying in especially for the concert, will be the guest of honour.
Tickets start at Dh250 and are available at the Souk Madinat Jumeirah theatre box office (04-3666546) or on www.platinumlist.net. Doors open at 7pm and curtains go up at 8pm.
