Award-winning Hawaiin singer, Fiji, dies at 55

Dubai: Renowned Hawain-Fiji artist, George Brooks Veikoso known as Fiji, died at the age of 55.

The award-winning artist reportedly died in his home nation of Fiji on Wednesday, July 23, surrounded by his family.

He was a singer, songwriter, recording artist, producer, and mentor in the Hawaiian and reggae music industry. Fiji has also won several awards over the years including the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards for Male Vocalist and Favourite Entertainer of the Year in 1998.

He went on to win several other awards including the Best Pacific International Artist Award at the Pacific Music Awards in 2014, and the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to the Polynesian reggae stream in 2021, according to Hawaii News Now.
