Mohanlal to receive Best Actor Award in Dubai

Malayalam actor Mohanlal was voted the Best Actor for his performance in blockbusters Spirit and Run Baby Run in an online poll organised by Asiavision Movie Awards 2012.

The actor locked in 84,000 votes and beat fellow actor Dileep who was nominated for his role in Vellaripravinite Changathi by a healthy margin. The awards ceremony will be held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on November 9.

“Mohanlal will be here to collect his award. We are also expecting the who’s who of Malayalam film industry this year and more than 35,000 malayalam movie fans,” said organiser Nissar Syed, Managing Director of Asiavision Adevertising.

In the Best Actress category, Reema Kallingal who played a vengeful lover in revenge drama 22 Female Kottayam emerged the winner. She outdid the massively popular Kavya Madhavan who was nominated for her role as a star-crossed lover in Vellaripravinte Changathi. She is also confirmed to attend the ceremony.

Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla, a special guest for the evening, will be honoured with Excellence In Hindi Cinema for her role in art house film I Am.

Mumbai-based model Isha Talwar, who made her debut in Malayalam hit Thattathin Marayathu, will take home this year’s New Sensation award.
