Dubai: Pop icon Katy Perry gave her San Francisco fans an unexpected thrill earlier this week on Friday night—and not the good kind.

While belting out her anthem “Roar” during her Lifetimes Tour stop at the Chase Center, the pop star found herself in a seriously shaky situation when her butterfly-shaped flying prop decided to go rogue.

Perched high above the crowd, Perry was mid-performance when the aerial contraption suddenly jolted, tilted, and dipped mid-air. The startled singer slipped in her seat and abruptly stopped singing, visibly thrown off.

Fortunately, the pop queen held on (because of course she did) and escaped unscathed. Ever the performer, she finished the show—and later posted a blurry selfie to Instagram Stories with the caption, “Good Night San Fran,” featuring her wide-eyed expression. No statement from reps yet, but honestly, the selfie said it all.

Not her first rodeo—and she’s in good (wobbly) company

Katy’s moment of mid-air chaos joins a long list of celebrity stage mishaps that prove live shows are not for the faint of heart—or weak of harness:

  • Beyoncé, unbothered and unshaken, kept singing as her hair got tangled in a stage fan mid-concert. Iconic.

  • Post Malone took a painful tumble into a trapdoor in 2022, bruising his ribs but finishing the tour like a rockstar.

  • Lady Gaga? Let a fan hoist her up in Vegas, only for the poor guy to trip and drop her off the stage. Gaga survived, fan survived, dignity… not so much.

  • Pink was yanked straight into a metal barricade during a 2010 show thanks to a faulty harness. She got checked out in the hospital—and probably added a “no slingshot” clause to future rider contracts.

So yes, being a pop star may look glamorous, but sometimes you’re one mechanical hiccup away from flying straight into chaos.

Luckily for Katy, she lived to Roar another day—and gave us a viral moment in the process.
