Jimmy Page is facing another legal battle over Led Zeppelin’s “Dazed and Confused,” this time from songwriter Jake Holmes.

Holmes, who has long claimed that Page lifted the song from his original 1967 recording, argues that the new Led Zeppelin documentary Becoming Led Zeppelin reignited the dispute.

Lawsuit

Holmes filed a lawsuit in a California federal court alleging copyright infringement and breach of contract.

According to Holmes, the film used two early live performances of “Dazed and Confused” without permission, credit, or compensation, Ultimate Guitar reported.

Sony Pictures, the studio behind the documentary, is named as a co-defendant.

“The defendants willfully infringed the Holmes composition by falsely claiming that the Holmes composition is the Page composition,” the lawsuit states.

It further alleges that the filmmakers licensed the song as though it were Page’s original work and collected fees under that premise.

Prior settlement agreement

Holmes claims this violates a prior settlement agreement and says the defendants ignored multiple cease-and-desist letters.

He also accuses Page of continuing to release live versions of the disputed song without proper acknowledgment.

Among those cited in the complaint are Yardbirds '68, Live at the BBC Revisited, and The Yardbirds: The Ultimate Live at the BBC.

Damages

Holmes is seeking damages of at least $150,000 for each instance of copyright infringement.

The report said Page has not responded to the allegations.

Led Zeppelin is set to release their highly anticipated new album, Echoes of Time, in 2025, marking their first studio album in over four decades.

The album will feature Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones, with Jason Bonham, John Bonham’s son, on drums.
