Netflix's new Bollywood thriller Jewel Thief was supposed to be a slick, sexy heist thriller. What we got instead? A painfully predictable plot, some flat performances, and a lot of "been there, seen that" energy. Critics haven’t held back—calling it lazy, banal, and sparkly only in name. Even Saif Ali Khan, usually the king of cool in crime dramas, looks like he’s counting the minutes till wrap time. But then… Jaideep Ahlawat danced.

Yes, the man who once haunted our dreams as the brooding, brooding cop in Paatal Lok broke into a full-fledged Bollywood number—Jaadu, no less—and honestly? It’s the unhinged, glorious chaos 2025 desperately needed. Watching Jaideep shimmy in a disco-lit suit is not just entertaining, it’s almost healing. While the plot limped along, his hips said, “Don’t worry, I got this.”

The rest of the cast, including Kunal Kapoor and Nikita Dutta, are reduced to glorified wallpaper. The film tries hard to channel Catch Me If You Can energy but ends up feeling like Catch Me If You Can Stay Awake.

Still, Jewel Thief will be remembered. Not for its twists, not for its thrills, and definitely not for its script—but for the moment Jaideep Ahlawat decided to give zero heist energy and maximum thumka.

Because sometimes cinema doesn’t need to make sense. It just needs Jaideep dancing like no one's watching. And for that? We’re grateful.
