Imagine a bank held at gun point by three women. Now imagine them all as grandmothers.
Itli featuring Saranya Ponvannan, late Malayalam actress Kalpana and Kovai Sarala is a comic caper directed by R.K. Vidhyadharan.
Saranya is Inba, who raises her only granddaughter; Kovai Sarala is Twinkle, unmarried and in love; while Lily, a woman with OCD, is played by Kalpana. Itli is the acronym for Inba, Twinkle and Lily, the lead characters of the heist story.
“Interestingly each of them had starred opposite Kamal Haasan,” said Vidyadharan, who last directed Vaitheeswaran (Tamil).
“Working with these accomplished actresses was memorable. Their comic timing was perfect and I liked their competitive attitude. Once the camera switched on they became their characters. On the sets they shared good camaraderie.”
Itli also features actors Manobala, Devadarshini and Imman Annachi.
The movie produced by Appu Movies releases on June 29 in India.
