Dubai: Just days ahead of its theatrical release, L2: Empuraan — the eagerly awaited sequel to Lucifer starring Mohanlal and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran — continues to fuel intense fan speculation over one burning question: Who’s playing the film’s elusive villain?

It all started when the makers released a poster showing the back of a man in a white karategi marked with a red dragon — instantly setting the internet ablaze with theories.

From Mammootty and Fahadh Faasil to Korean superstar Don Lee and Game of Thrones alum Charles Dance, fans have thrown every possible name into the mix.

But now, a curious development may have accidentally confirmed the mystery man's identity.

A UK-based talent agency, Internations Artists Management, briefly shared a now-deleted Instagram post stating that two of their clients — The Fast and the Furious actor Rick Yune and Killing Eve's Andrea Tivadar — will be playing “starring roles” in L2: Empuraan.

Though the Instagram post was swiftly taken down, the information remains live on the agency’s official website, fueling further speculation that Yune could be playing a member of the Yakuza gang teased in the trailer and recent posters.

Rick Yune, a Korean-American actor, is no stranger to high-octane thrillers. He’s best known for his roles as the icy antagonist in Die Another Day, as well as appearing in Ninja Assassin, Olympus Has Fallen, and Tetris. If confirmed, this would mark his debut in Indian cinema — and quite the powerful one at that.

Andrea Tivadar, also mentioned in the agency's leak, has previously appeared in TV hits like Snatch, Bulletproof, and Killing Eve.

With fan theories spiralling online and advance bookings already breaking records, L2: Empuraan is shaping up to be an iconic festive Eid release.

The film hits UAE cinemas on March 27, 2025.
