Dubai: YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as Beer Biceps, is reportedly facing major financial fallout after his controversial joke on India’s Got Latent went viral.

According to a report on NDTV, Ranveer has reportedly lost over 50,000 followers across his social media accounts. They quoted HypeAuditor, a data-driven Influencer marketing platform, while explaining the dip.

According to the marketing platform, BeerBiceps (Ranveer's handle) had 45.27 lakh Instagram followers on February 9. Three days later, on February 11, the follower count dropped to 44.80 lakh.

These follower losses could directly impact his ability to attract brand deals, a key source of income for influencers.

Ranveer, who has collaborated with brands ranging from soft drinks to web streaming platforms, stand to lose these partnerships as companies often distance themselves from controversy to protect their reputation.

Adding to his troubles, singer B Praak publicly announced that he would no longer appear on Ranveer’s podcast, calling his remarks "pathetic" and criticising him for undermining Indian culture.

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has also called for an industry-wide boycott of Ranveer and Samay, urging filmmakers, technicians, and actors to cut ties with the individuals involved in the show. In a strongly worded statement, the AICWA condemned the “reprehensible and offensive remarks” and vowed to withhold support from the individuals in question.

For influencers such as Ranveer, follower count, public goodwill, and brand image are crucial for sustaining their careers.
