Woody Allen may not be having the best of times in Hollywood, but it was a very different story at the Venice film festival on Monday, where his 50th film, a French comedy-thriller called 'Coup de Chance' (Stroke of Luck), premiered. The applause and cheers drowned a few protest banners and scuffles outside. And Allen declared that the cancel culture was quite “silly.” Allen, 87, was accused of having sexually assaulted his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, in 1992. Though he was cleared, he has always maintained his innocence. Critics rated 'Coup de Chance' as Allen’s best work in years.

It was high drama as Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara, the star of Prime Video’s hit teen film franchise ‘My Fault’, was arrested at the Venice Film Festival for an alleged sexual assault in France. Guevara was arrested a day before he was set to receive a best young actor honour given out by Filming Italy. However, Filming Italy promptly cancelled the award, which they said was a “precautionary measure,” pending the outcome of the case against him.
