The ‘Friends’ star has put up his home in the West Coast home for $13.5 million
Actor Matthew Perry has listed his home in the Bird Streets of Hollywood Hills West for sale at $13.5 million (Dh49.57 million).
Perry, known for his role on the sitcom Friends, has been spending less time on the West Coast since his playwriting debut, The End of Longing, opened last year in London. The play, in which he also stars, premiered stateside this month in an off-Broadway production at MCC Theater.
The dramatic showplace, built in 1962, features walls of floor-to-ceiling glass that open to a covered patio and an infinity-edge swimming pool. Fire features and reflecting pools enhance the outdoor living space. Clear-through views extend from downtown LA to the ocean.
Entered through an atrium courtyard, the 3,821 square feet of open-plan space includes a living room with a fireplace, a chef’s kitchen, three bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. The master suite has a wall of glass that leads directly outdoors. The home theatre sits beneath the house and has 2-inch-thick windows that look into the pool.
An attached two-car garage sits off the home’s entrance.
Perry ushered in a new wave of celebrity activity in the neighbourhood, known for its use of bird names for streets, six years ago when he bought the property for $8.65 million. The 47-year-old has also owned homes in trendy LA-area spots such as the Sierra Towers, the Outpost Estates neighbourhood and Malibu’s gated Serra Retreat.
Greg Holcomb and Cassandra Petersen of Partners Trust are the listing agents.
KEVIN COSTNER’S OCEANFRONT PERCH
It’s not every day that a 10-acre property along the ocean comes to market in Southern California. But actor Kevin Costner is offering just that for $60 million.
The Carpinteria acreage is freeway-close yet secreted behind fences watched by security cameras.
What you can’t see from the outside is the gently rolling green site, which features 500 feet of oceanfront, a path to the beach and panoramic Pacific views. The Santa Barbara Mountains and islands are also visible from the equestrian plot.
There are several outbuildings and beach access.
Cathy Titus of Coldwell Banker and Tim Hoctor of T.E. Hoctor & Co. are the listing agents.
Is $60 million too rich for your blood? Costner has an estate for lease in Aspen, Colo., at $650,000 a month.
The 10,000-square-foot compound includes six bedrooms, six full bathrooms and two half-baths. The 160-acre ranch has three houses, a baseball field, three hot tubs and a sledding hill. “Comfortably sleeps 27,” says the listing from Coldwell Banker Mason Morse.
A SLIGHT CHANGE IN TUNE
In a bid to drum up interest from potential buyers, Tommy Lee of Motley Crue fame has tuned the asking price for his home in a guard-gated Calabasas community to $4.995 million, or about $500 per square foot.
Built in 1987, the exotic-vibe three-story is amped up with a range of rock-star amenities: a full-blown recording studio, a movie theatre, an indoor spa, two kitchens, a central atrium with cascading waterfalls and a retractable glass roof.
The nearly 10,000 square feet of living space also has formal living and dining rooms, a library/office and a wine room. A wet bar and lounge area sit off the atrium. The black-hued master suite has a massive walk-in closet for a total of five bedrooms and 5{ bathrooms.
Outdoors, the landscaped grounds centre on a piano-shaped swimming pool with a spa and waterfall feature. A pair of patios, outdoor fireplaces and custom torch lighting fill out the setting.
Views from the more than quarter-acre site take in the valley and city lights.
Lee, 54, is a founding member of Motley Crue and the rock band Methods of Mayhem. More recently, the drummer-songwriter has collaborated with artists such as the Bloody Beetroots, Courtney Love and the Smashing Pumpkins.
