Broadway theatres plan to dim their marquee lights Friday night in memory of Mike Nichols, a nine-time Tony Award winner whose work onstage ranged from the silly Monty Python’s Spamalot to the heartbreaking Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman.

The Broadway League says the lights will be dimmed for one minute at 7.45pm. Nichols died Wednesday at 83. He won directing Tonys seven times and won twice for producing.
