The Grey’s Anatomy alum appeared emotional throughout the conversation, especially when Sawyer asked, “Who was your first call?” referencing his diagnosis. Dane was rather overwhelmed.  “I don’t think this is the end of my story. I don’t feel like this is the end of me,” he said elsewhere in the interview.

Dane’s full conversation with Sawyer is set to air on Good Morning America on Monday. The 52-year-old actor revealed his ALS diagnosis in April, just weeks after he and his wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart, called off their divorce. The couple share two daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13. “I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter,” Dane told People at the time, also asking for privacy during the difficult period.

Despite the challenges ahead, Dane confirmed he will be returning to his role as Cal Jacobs in Season 3 of HBO’s Euphoria.

Shortly after sharing the news of his diagnosis, Dane was spotted out in Los Angeles, meeting a friend.

Gayheart originally filed for divorce in 2018, citing irreconcilable differences and requesting joint custody of their daughters. However, in March of this year, she filed to dismiss the petition, suggesting a possible reconciliation.
