Kai made an emotional return to the stage with his ‘Wait On Me’ solo showcase
After a long-awaited return, EXO’s Kai is back.
On April 21, he officially resumed solo activities with the emotional Wait On Me showcase, marking both the release of his new solo album and his first appearance since completing mandatory military service.
Kai took the stage with a series of powerful solo numbers, but it was his sincere words to fans that created a buzz on social media. “I’ve missed this so much. I’ve missed you,” he said. He began his thank-you speech, he turned away from the audience, overcome with tears. He requested a moment of silence to compose himself. “I’m not crying, why are you saying that I’m crying? Don’t turn me into a crybaby. It’s because things didn’t feel real until now. And everyone must’ve been tired coming since it’s a Monday. To those who came down, let me show you guys the music video for Wait On Me first, before performing the last song. Get home safe after, and remember that we’ll keep getting to meet from now on."
It was a vulnerable, deeply human moment that reminded his fans why they've always felt so connected to him.
EXO's Kai, whose real name is Kim Jong-in, completed his mandatory military service on February 10, 2025. He enlisted on May 11, 2023, serving as a social service worker after undergoing five weeks of basic military training.
He expressed his disappointment, stating, "I had a lot prepared, and it's unfortunate. I'm upset, but I can show you everything when I return."
