A day after seasoned actress Mallika Sukumaran claimed her son and Empuraan director Prithviraj was being made a scapegoat, the film’s producer clarified that neither he nor lead star Mohanlal are distancing themselves from the director amid the uproar. There's no fall-out or rift within the creative team, he claimed.

"We have all seen the movie and we are just rectifying mistakes because it has hurt sentiments of many ... We have not alienated Prithviraj, we took a joint decision to make this movie, and we all knew what movie was made," said Antony in Malayalam to the media in Kerala.

He claimed the voluntary cuts to the political thriller wasn't taken under any pressure from any political party.

"There's no need to attack Prithviraj or its writer Murali Gopi, nor do we have any fall-out ... In our life journey, if we have hurt anyone it is up to us to correct that ... There will definitely be an Empuraan 3. We made a movie based on what we thought was right," he added.

He refused to comment on Mohanlal's friend and long-time collaborator Major Ravi's remarks that the lead actor hadn't seen the full movie.

"I don't want to be drawn into that," he told reporters.

The controversy surrounding L2: Empuraan escalated after political and social themes in the film drew criticism, prompting lead actor Mohanlal to issue a public apology and announce changes. Prithviraj shared his FB post but is yet to address the controversy.
