They spend much of the year travelling around the world for their job, playing tennis in tournaments from Acapulco to Washington, but even the players need their downtime. They shared what they do to relax outside of the game. For some, it’s the movies, so we asked them to chose their pick for Best Picture from the list of nominees.

Roger Federer: I’ll take Silver Linings Playbook. I know Bradley Cooper quite well, he’s a really nice guy. And from what I’ve heard the movie is really nice. I like going to the beach, preferably with my family, I love spending time with them. I love travelling and getting to see new places.

Novak Djokovic: TO COME

Ana Ivanovic, on the Oscars: Argo! It’s a great movie.

Juan Martin Del Potro: I love to play soccer with friends, it’s my second sport, and also spend time with my family and friends.

On the Oscars: I didn’t see any of the movies, but I would choose Zero Dark Thirty.

Michael Llodra: I have a bar together with Arnaud Clement, and that’s really something I enjoy. I haven’t seen all the movies but I liked Argo a lot. It won a lot of awards so I think the movie has good chances.

Somdev Dewarman: I enjoy music, I play a little bit of the guitar as well. I used to travel with the guitar for three years, but from airport to airport it’s quite challenging, so I put it down.

On the Oscars: I would say Argo and Zero Dark Thirty are both American propaganda but I wached both of them and I thought Argo was better, I thought it was well-made. Lincoln of course is fantastic, and Life of Pi is good but I read Life Of Pi, and I thought that was better. Les Miserables, I thought the play was better as well. I would say either Django Unchained or Argo. Quentin Tarantino is fantastic.

On the Oscars: I actually haven’t seen any of the films yet, but I’ve heard good things about Les Miserables and Life of Pi, so I may try to catch them soon. Two very different movies.

Sara Errani: I love to do puzzles. Unfortunately I do not get much time to make them, but when I am home I always do.

On the Oscars: I haven’t seen any of the movies, so I really can’t say! Maybe I should try to catch one this week in Dubai.

Varvara Lepchenko: I’ve been dreaming a lot of starting to the play the piano, and I’ve started to have a few lessons. I’ve also got a few business ideas that I would like to work on, but I just haven’t had time yet.

On the Oscars: In my opinion, I just saw Argo – and I’m gonna go with that one. Because it’s a true story and its based on real-life events, where people were pretty much risking their lives. They were very creative in that movie.

Laura Robson: I love reading and sightseeing, and of course shopping.

On the Oscars: I love Django Unchained and Zero Dark Thirty. But I’m a musical girl at heart, so I think I’d have to go with Les Miserables.

Shopping. I love Bloomingdales, and online shopping generally.

On the Oscars: Les Miserables, because of the amazing live singing in the film.
