Friday: Would you read a book in a cultural setting you know  nothing about?
Piyu Majumdar: Absolutely! I find other cultures, customs and traditions fascinating!

Friday: Why is a tell-all book more indicative of those who prefer to read it?
Piyu: Because it’s our prurient interest and curiosity that fuels our desire to read it!

Friday: Fame is not the only reason to write an autobiography. Yes or no?
Piyu: Not at all! Many ordinary people live extraordinary lives that inspire, amaze and uplift.

Friday: Do you believe an author can write too many books? Any examples you can give?
Piyu: Definitely – Patricia Cornwell please stop!

Friday: Similarly, do you believe some authors should write more? Examples?
Piyu: Would love more from Khaled Hosseini, Arundhati Roy, Malcolm Gladwell. Pity Harper Lee and JD Salinger are no more.

Friday: Political biographies offer better history lessons. Do you agree?
Piyu: Depends on the author, their research skills and biases. But then, isn’t history written by the winners?

Friday: One book that should never have been written?
Piyu: Twilight. Seriously, every book has a place. Think for yourself and allow others to enjoy the same privilege.

Friday: Can a love for reading be taught?
Piyu: Passion comes from within! As educators and parents we can model, guide and give strategies to make it more interesting and hope for the best!
