Amid ₹300 billion estate row, Karisma steers clear—keeps focus on Samaira and Kiaan
Karisma Kapoor’s children—Samaira (20) and Kiaan (14)—are among the rightful heirs to late billionaire Sunjay Kapur’s estate, following his sudden death from cardiac arrest during a polo match in the UK on June 12.
While the spotlight has fallen on a brewing family feud between Sunjay’s wife Priya Sachdev Kapur and his mother Rani Kapur, sources close to the family insist the children’s inheritance is safeguarded—thanks to pre-arranged legacy planning.
Despite their parents’ acrimonious divorce in 2016, Sunjay ensured that his children from his first marriage to Karisma were financially secure. According to family insiders:
Samaira and Kiaan have each been allotted bonds worth ₹0.14 billion ($1.68 million)
They will also receive a monthly income of ₹1 million ($12,000) each
Karisma Kapoor has been given ownership of a family property, once owned by Sunjay’s father, Dr Surinder Kapur
There is no formal dispute from Karisma over Sunjay’s ₹300 billion ($3.6 billion) estate. Sources stress that she remains focused solely on her children and has no claim or involvement in any property matters.
Sunjay Kapur was the sole beneficiary of the RK Family Trust, which controls Sona Comstar, the ₹310 billion ($3.7 billion) auto component company he chaired. With his passing:
His wife Priya Sachdev Kapur now manages the trust’s interests
She also acts as the legal guardian of their 6-year-old son Azarius, who inherits a share
The company board appointed her as non-executive director in July
Sunjay’s mother Rani Kapur has openly challenged Priya’s growing influence, alleging she was pressured into signing documents and excluded from decision-making during the mourning period. She has questioned the official version of her son’s death and is reportedly exploring legal avenues to assert her authority over the family’s legacy.
Despite the drama, Samaira and Kiaan’s share appears unaffected, with financial and legal structures in place to protect their interests.
