Actor Ranbir Kapoor says he wants young people in India to stay positive in light of the recent political upheaval in the country.

“I don’t want to sound preachy... but we are living in some hard times right now. I hope that you guys don’t get swept away with the bitterness and negativity [and] the violence that’s happening around the world and around us,” he said.

The actor’s next film, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil might be in trouble after the Hindu right-wing party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena demanded a ban on Pakistani artists from working in Bollywood after the terror attack in Uri.

The Karan Johar-directed romantic drama features Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in a cameo.

Johar earlier said that banning artists is not the solution to stop terrorism. Kapoor, however, refrained from directly commenting on the issue.

“I want you guys to stay sweet, gentle, amazing and beautiful... You guys are the force. And the force is going to be with you, forever,” Kapoor said.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil also stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma.
