Late Assamese singer was known for singing the Goalpariya Lokogeet type of folk music

Popular Assamese folk singer Pratima Barua-Pandey will be immortalised on the big screen with a biopic about her that is set for release next year.
Sunar Boron Pakhi will showcase the life of the late Barua-Pandey, who sang the Goalpariya Lokogeet type of folk music in a cinematic way, says director Bobby Sarma Baruah.

“The first schedule of shooting has ended. The second schedule will start next month. The film is expected to release by the middle of next year,” Baruah said.
“Three stages of Barua-Pandey’s life will be shown in the film. The first, till the age of seven years, will be enacted by a girl from Gauripur, Sushmita Roy. The second phase [19-45 years] will be a major role and will be played by Pranami Barua,” she says.
The role of an elderly Barua-Pandey will be played by Arati Barua, she says, adding that veteran Assamese actor and FTII society member Pranjal Saikia will play the role of Barua-Pandey’s father, Prakritish Chandra Barua.
