Jimmy Shergill, the Tanu Weds Manu Returns star, will next be seen in Irrfan Khan-starrer Maadari.
“It was nice on his part to think that I am apt for the role. When I heard the script, I was blown away and I wanted this story to be told. There is a huge emotional attachment to the story of the film,” said Shergill.
The duo have worked together in five films including their upcoming release.
“I share a very nice rapport with him. Even if he is not shooting he will come to the set and help you give a better performance. There is definitely a director inside him. Working with him is always a pleasure. He is my favourite actor ever since we worked together in our first film.”
Directed by Nishikant Kamat, Maadari will hit UAE theatres on July 21.
Shergill, who ventured into production with the 2011 Punjabi film Dharti and went on to back four projects in the language, is planning to take a break as producer and focus more on his acting career.
“Producing a film takes a lot of time. You have to be involved since the beginning and then there is shooting plus promotions.
“I now want to do one or two films a year and focus more on my characters. Until now I have worked day and night. Now I want to do something which will make me stand out as an artist.”
