“Stupendous”, “whopper blockbuster” and “Full on dhamaka [fun]” are the terms used by celebrities such as Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar and Sonam Kapoor respectively to applaud the trailer of Shah Rukh Khan’s forthcoming film Happy New Year (HNY).

Also starring Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah and Sonu Sood, the trailer of HNY was launched in Mumbai on Thursday in the presence of the film’s cast and crew.

Post the release, friends from Bollywood took to Twitter to express their views on the three-minute sneak peek into the movie directed by Farah Khan.

Even Salman Khan couldn’t help himself, tweeting: “Just saw happy new year ka promo, it’s Kick ass.”

Director Karan Johar jumped in too: “#HappyNewYearTrailer is OUTSTANDING!!!! Whopper Blockbuster this Diwali!!!! #funkabaap (the father of fun).” he tweeted, while producer Uday Chopra said the trailer looked ‘mindblowing’: “Killing it! @juniorbachchan @TheFarahKhan @iamsrk #HappyNewYearTrailer,” he tweeted.

Bachchan tweeted: “The trailor of @HappyNewYear !! Just simply stupendous .. Wohooo !! Farah and SRK .. and the entire team!”

At the release, Khan said that after 25 years in the industry, he’s reached a point wehre he can experiment as an actor. “I don’t think actors should be self obsessed and should think of reinventing themselves. A director’s vision is the most important for any actor. I am a director’s actor and try to give my best,” said the 48-year-old.

“I think [time] has gone very fast and it seems like just yesterday. Everyone has been kind to me, audience, Allah. I am grateful for everything. I look forward to do good work and entertain as long as I can,” he said. “My life is an open book. I am there on social networking sites and there are several things written about me. I am happy that people think they know everything about me but there is a side of me which no one knows. And I feel nobody needs to know about it.”

Happy New Year will have its global premiere in Dubai on October 22. The comedy, set around a major heist, is dedicated to “inspiring losers”, said Khan.
