On his father Yash Johar’s 85th birthday, filmmaker Karan Johar recalled how his father always gave precedence to relationships over movies. He says it’s a “tall order” to follow.

“Dad’s birthday today...his stand was always to put relationships over films...a tall order to follow...I still try...miss him more than ever,” Johar tweeted Saturday.

Yash Johar, who died in 2004, founded Dharma Productions in 1976. He produced films such as Dostana (1981), Agneepath (1990), Hum (1991), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) and Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003).

He launched Johar as a director with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Johar has successfully taken on the legacy of the Dharma Productions banner and has delivered several entertainers as a producer and director.
