Bollywood: Iconic Delhi club to host Richa Chadha-Ali Fazal pre-wedding celebrations

Bollywood couple Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal are among the first to kick-start festivities with their October wedding. The couple have decided on a week-long schedule of wedding festivities, according to Indian media reports.

Sources told media that, while the wedding itself is planned as an intimate ceremony with close friends and family members in attendance, the star couple plan to host two wedding receptions – in Delhi and Mumbai.

Delayed wedding: The new wedding date was set, almost 2.5 years after they originally planned to tie the knot. The change in dates was owing to the pandemic.

The festivities are reportedly set to start from September 30 in Delhi, concluding in Mumbai on October 7. The celebrations will begin in Delhi and then move and conclude in Mumbai in first week of October.

Chadha is currently in Mumbai shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, and Ali Fazal has been shuffling between Mumbai and Lucknow working on Mirzapur 3. The actors are set to wrap up their shooting schedules by September 24 to focus on wedding prep.

Historic venue: The couple’s pre-wedding celebration will be held in Delhi at an iconic 110-year old venue. One of India’s oldest clubs, the Delhi Gymkhana Club is one of the most exclusive venues in the Indian capital. This club will host one of the ceremonies. The club reportedly has a wait list for memberships, that could go as long as 37 years to get approved.

A modern bride: Chadha is surely not one to go the conventional route. The actress is balancing her hectic work schedule, all while planning a wedding for her beau and herself. Reportedly, Chadha finishes all her meetings and wedding planning with the team, in between takes on the sets of her latest movie, Heeramandi.

Also going the unconventional route for her trousseau, media reports suggest that Chadha has chosen five designers working on her outfits for each of her wedding ceremonies.

The actor couple first met in 2012, on the sets of the comedy ‘Furkey’, where they developed a friendship. After dating for seven years, Ali popped the question back in 2019. Unfortunately, Covid-19 stalled the couple’s wedding plans – making the upcoming event even more special.
